Freckles, commonly called “age spots,” are actually called “solar lentigines.” They are harmless spots that appear mostly in people over 50 years old, with white complexion and in people who are highly exposed to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun or solariums. Freckles are brown because they contain melanin, a pigment in the upper layers of the skin that can clump together and make them appear. Luckily, you have a few home remedies to help reduce your appearance.
Use lemon juice
Apply lemon juice directly to the freckles. Lemon juice contains an acid that can help break down the melanin pigment and therefore reduce the visibility of freckles after a couple of months. The vitamin C present in lemon can also whiten the skin directly. Cut 1 lemon into slices and put them directly on the freckles. Leave them for about 30 minutes and then rinse under running water.
Be careful when combining lemon juice and direct sun exposure – some suggest that applying lemon juice to the skin can cause significant sunburn in direct sunlight. Others suggest that freckle removal is more effective in direct sunlight. Perhaps it is best to limit the exposure of your freckles with lemon juice to the sun to 10 minutes per treatment.
Try a mixture of lemon juice and sugar.
Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into a bowl and add 2 to 4 tablespoons of sugar slowly until a kind of paste forms.
Apply the mixture to each freckle with a brush or swab.
Leave the paste on for about half an hour and then rinse with cold water.
This paste could dry out your skin, so be sure to apply a moisturizer after each treatment.
Use plant enzymes
Know the power of enzymes. Enzymes are the workforce of the biochemical world. Enzymes change various substances without wearing out, like nature’s catalysts. Enzymes can help break down melanin into colorless particles.
The different foods we will describe contain different enzymes, but they are all classified as protein-decomposing enzymes: proteases, or proteolytic enzymes.
These proteases include papain (in papaya), potato aspartic protease, and bromelain (in pineapple).
Grate a potato and mix it with honey: Take 1 medium potato (any type of white potato) and grate it in a bowl. Add the necessary amount of honey to form a paste.
Apply the mixture on the freckles.
Leave the pasta on for about 15 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
Make a papaya mask: Scoop out all the pulp of a papaya and mash it in a bowl until it is smooth. You can also use a hand blender to puree it.
With a cotton swab or makeup brush, apply the mask to your face and any other freckled areas.
Leave the mask on until it dries and rinse with cold water.
Mix plain yogurt with herbs
Some herbs can help yogurt remove freckles from the skin. Apply the yogurt and herb mixture directly to your face and any other freckled areas. Leave it on until it dries and then rinse with cold water. The following herbs contain antioxidants and bioflavonoids that can help lighten freckles in combination with yogurt:
1 tablespoon mustard powder
1 tablespoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon of aloe gel
