Waffles originate from Belgium, and are also called “Gofre” (a word from French). Their preparation is not complicated at all and they are very suitable to be used as a base for other desserts. The combinations with ice creams, creams or fruits are ideal to savor this culinary delight.
In different countries there are varieties of the original recipe, being that in some cases waffles are used to be consumed as part of salty foods instead of the usual, which is to use it as a dessert.

2 cups of plain flour (240 grams)
3 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Beat the eggs a little until they are frothy. Add milk and melted butter.
Separately sift the flour, salt and baking powder. Mix the dry ingredients with the liquids, stirring with a spoon until you get a smooth paste.
The griddle for waffles
Waffle irons generally do not need to be buttered because the butter in the dough is enough to prevent them from sticking. Heat the waffle pan or if it is automatic wait for it to be at the right temperature. Dump the dough in the center and let it run to the sides trying not to add too much. Close the mold and when it is cooked, remove the waffle and repeat the operation.
How to eat waffles
They can be served with honey, dulce de leche, syrup, butter. If more crisps are preferred, the baking powder is removed. There are those who prefer to use them accompanied by salty meals, and they really lend themselves very well to it. We recommend trying them.
How to save the mix to make waffles another day
Keep in mind that the waffle mix can be kept in the fridge, but not for more than 2 or 3 days. So you can perfectly make the mixture today, and cook them tomorrow or the day after tomorrow if you don’t have time.
